I am a Senior IT Specialist at IBM in Armonk, New York. I majored in Political Science and International Studies at Trinity College in Hartford, Connecticut, but currently build Web applications with WebSphere and DB2 alongside Apache, MySQL and PHP.

I work full time as a “content tools developer,” building Web applications for internal IBM clients. Some of the sites are only accessible within the IBM intranet, others have public facing components, such as the newest iteration of the IBM press room.

Since I write here about goings on in the industry, I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention this: “The postings on this site are my own and don’t necessarily represent IBM’s positions, strategies or opinions.”

If you need a more formal description of my expertise: “Daniel Krook is a Senior IT Specialist at IBM in Armonk, New York. He has over 10 years experience in Web site development and currently builds applications on WebSphere and DB2 along with Apache, MySQL, and PHP. He holds certifications in PHP (ZCE), Java (SCJP, SCWCD), DB2 (IBM Certified Database Associate), and Solaris (SCSA). He occasionally writes PHP-related articles for IBM developerWorks and co-authored the IBM Redbook ‘Developing PHP Applications for IBM Data Servers.’”

I also do freelance Web development via my agency, Civet Networks Inc., for organizations and companies which are too small to contract with IBM.
